We are currently seeking passionate Electric Distribution Engineers who excel in utility design engineering. In this role, you will enhance your skills in areas such as NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards. Your most significant achievements are yet to come!

As an Electric Distribution Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing detailed design and construction work packages for moderately complex overhead and underground electrical distribution systems operating in the 4kV to 138kV range, tackling issues related to overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.
  • Collaborating with project teams to achieve daily objectives.
  • Reviewing client-provided work and assessing scope requirements.
  • Assisting technical staff with various tasks and assignments.
  • Creating permitting documents for different Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Coordinating with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, and field leaders for joint-owned poles.
  • Facilitating collaboration across internal teams including Project Managers and Technical Resources.
  • Communicating technical solutions, practices, and procedures effectively within the organization.
  • Traveling to client sites or meetings as needed.
  • Conducting engineering calculations including structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions, and assessing voltage drop and flicker.
  • Reviewing work performed by other engineers prior to submission to clients.
  • Offering engineering support during construction phases and performing post-construction reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Performing root cause analysis of outages and providing mitigation strategies using engineering principles and design.
  • Adhering to Leidos and client safety requirements and design quality expectations.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution; additional experience or certifications may substitute for a degree.
  • Familiarity with NESC Standards, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and Bluebeam and/or Adobe.
  • Experience with ESRI and GIS is a plus.
  • Proficiency in distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, or O-Calc.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A willingness to perform both field and office work, with up to 25% overnight travel required.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and utilize a personal vehicle.

Location: Honolulu, HI

Pay Range: $59,150.00 - $106,925.00

The compensation range is a guideline and may vary based on specific job responsibilities, education, experience, and market alignment.
