Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, this position plans and performs independent testing of the Bank's system of internal controls, proposes revisions to update and strengthen controls and control descriptions, and makes recommendations to enhance business unit processes.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Bank's Risk Culture: Supports and promotes a robust enterprise risk management culture through demonstration of knowledge and experience, skillful communication, and development of strong internal relationships.
  • Knowledge and Expertise: Maintains a superior understanding of all consumer compliance laws and regulations that affect the Bank's operations and stays abreast of any regulatory changes. Has strong knowledge of the Bank's products, services, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Enterprise Risk Testing (ERT) Program: Assists in executing the Bank's Enterprise Risk Testing Program, developing guidance documents and templates, standardizing the testing approach, sampling methodology, and reporting.
  • Develops the Annual Testing Plan: Prioritizes and tracks testing activities, ensuring the plan is commensurate with risk and updated continuously to reflect regulatory changes and business factors.
  • Plans ERT Reviews: Uses a risk‑focused approach to determine scope, coverage, and frequency of ERT activities; reviews RCSAs, NPSIs, process flows, and other risk assessments; conducts entrance meetings and walkthroughs; identifies relevant systems, data, reports, and procedures; documents rationale for scoped controls.
  • Leads ERT Reviews: Evaluates the design of compliance and operational risk controls, conducts complex testing, selects testing techniques and sampling methods, and evaluates results against tolerance levels and thresholds.
  • Drives Continuous Improvement: Proposes revisions to strengthen controls and control descriptions, recommends enhancements to business unit processes, and drives continuous improvement in the Bank's control framework.
  • Prepares and Approves Reports and Workpapers: Produces and approves reports that clearly identify scope, findings, necessary corrective actions, and overall ratings or opinions; ensures documentation is clear, supported, and legible to third parties.
  • Manages workload: Plans and organizes work, manages multiple tasks, sets objectives/goals, and re‑prioritizes as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of work experience in banking, audit, regulatory compliance, and/or risk management, with process improvement and/or project management experience in lead roles.
  • Proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) or similar software; knowledge of current accounting principles and internal control concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills; able to engage all levels of the organization; strong attention to detail and analytical skills; self‑starter who prioritizes work and can recommend solutions to complex compliance issues.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, and evenings as needed.
