This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process that fast-tracks qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai'i.

Candidates who meet departmental requirements may be contacted for an interview, after which the department will notify them of selection or non-selection. The review by the Department of Human Resources Development will determine the final disposition.

Location and Salary

Position: Auditor III, Department of Taxation, Hilo.

Salary: $4,961 to $6,043 per month (SR-20, Step D to I).

Responsibilities

Professional auditing work involving the examination of accounts to render an opinion regarding the financial position and operations of governmental agencies, individuals, and business entities. The Auditor III performs moderately difficult tasks by conducting examinations of smaller agencies or business entities and auditing primarily one aspect of fiscal work for both small and large agencies; will assist higher-level auditors on more complex assignments and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Legal Authorization to Work: Citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the U.S., or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
  2. Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with at least twelve semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.
  3. Specialized Experience: Two years of progressively responsible professional auditing experience applying generally accepted professional accounting and auditing principles, standards, theory, and practices.
  4. Driver's License: A valid driver's license required at the time of appointment.
  5. Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.
