Assistant or Associate Professor in Health & Human Science

Location: BYU‑Hawaii, Laie, HI

Position: Full‑time faculty, rank Assistant or Associate Professor.

Closing Date: Review of applications will begin October 1st.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Public Health or a related field (or foreign equivalent from a nationally accredited institution).
  • Specialization in Epidemiology, Health Promotion, or Healthy Behaviors. ABD nearing completion will also be considered (must complete degree by start date).
  • As a BYU‑Hawaii candidate, preference for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints in good standing; if applicable, must hold a current temple recommend and clearance from the Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.
  • Eligibility to teach requires compliance with the 60‑1.5 (a)(6) Church clearance requirement; an expired recommend is not accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Approximately 30 semester credit hours per year over three semesters in courses such as Epidemiology, Health Marketing & Communication, Health & Human Behavior, Community Nutrition, Health Topics and Careers in Asia & Oceania, and Health Promotion.
  • Research and scholarship: ongoing creative endeavor and university service required.
  • Commitment to BYU‑Hawaii's mission and learning framework, with a primary focus on undergraduate teaching.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $117,000–$127,000, depending on credentials, rank, and experience.
  • Housing stipend and relocation expense package.
  • Annually renewable contract with eligibility for Continuing Faculty Status (tenure‑track equivalent).
