To qualify for a Criminal Investigator your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, typically in or related to the field being filled. For a GS‑13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time‑in‑grade, time‑after‑competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the closing date. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning to perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be adequate to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Emotional and mental stability is required, and any condition that would pose a hazard to self or others is disqualifying. The incumbent must submit to any medical requirements to enter OCONUS locations to perform the duties of this position.
The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions such as work around moving parts, carts or machines; exposure to adverse weather conditions; or exposure to biological hazards or irritant chemicals. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as protective vests, masks, coats, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection and/or gloves.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Ordinarily Resident is defined as a U.S. citizen who is locally resident; and, has legal, permanent resident status within the host country; and, is subject to host country employment and tax laws.
Pay Retention will be extended to an eligible employee who applies through a formal recruitment program and is selected for a position at an overseas location.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug‑free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre‑employment, reasonable suspicion, post‑accident, and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six‑month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test.
