The opportunity is to work as a chemist at a growth-oriented energy company. The role involves learning and applying knowledge of established quality control and operating procedures as well as good laboratory techniques. The position requires delivering operational excellence by planning, organizing work, and assisting in the direction and supervision of the refinery laboratory. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the key activities include developing, performing, and training other technicians on new test methods as needed to support the refinery operation. The role also involves performing a variety of non-routine tests, assisting the Laboratory Manager in the supervision of the laboratory staff and operations, and acting as the Laboratory Manager when coverage is needed. Additionally, the chemist must be available to work night shifts, after hours, and on-call for some non-work hours/days. The position requires organization and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and production requirements. To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To comply with the regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Additional qualifications include a bachelor's degree in chemistry or equivalent and/or experience, in lieu of degree, preferred. Must have strong analytical skills, knowledge of modern analytical instrumentation, including gas chromatography, and the ability to communicate in oral and written format with all levels of employees within the organization. Must be proficient with MS Office Suite software, supervisory experience preferred, chemist experience in a refinery laboratory preferred, and knowledge of the ASTM methods used for petroleum testing desired. A minimum of two years of experience in a laboratory is preferred.

The hiring range for this position is $97,000 to $121,000, plus a non-discretionary bonus. The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
