RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs a variety of duties to ensure reliable, safe and efficient operations, maintenance and repair of equipment, facilities, and/or systems for ambulatory locations, in areas which may include, but not limited to, carpentry, refrigeration/air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, machine work, painting, locksmithing, general maintenance and utility plant.
- Performs maintenance and repair duties for new/renovation projects at various healthcare facilities, clinics, offices or other ambulatory locations as assigned.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking; carrying up to 25 pounds; reaching above and below shoulder level; frequent gripping of an object.
- Continuous: carrying usual weight of 15 pounds.
- Occasional: sitting, kneeling, crawling, squatting, twisting body, reaching above and at shoulder level. Depending on area of assignment: lifting maximum weight of 50 pounds; pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds.
- Operation of power/hand tools required in area of assignment.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Subjected to noise/vibration from power hand tools required in area of assignment.
- Some exposure to electrical current, hazardous materials, fumes, and odors.
- Works a weekly rotating schedule and on-call schedule.
- Work involves driving to off-site locations. Must have access to motor vehicle.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Graduate of Trade or Vocational school in HVAC, Electrical or Carpentry; or five (5) years work experience in HVAC or Electrical, including two (2) years work experience in four (4) or more of the following areas: Plumbing, Medical Gas, Nurse Call, PLC or VFD programming, Motors Pumps, Generators, ATS/MTS, Switch Gears, Carpentry, Welding Electrical or Painting, with experience in making cost estimates and assessing job priorities.
- Academic background necessary to perform basic mathematical calculations, cost estimates, give and receive instructions, and write reports.
- May require license or be capable of acquiring license depending on work area.
- Valid U.S. driver's license required in accordance with Hawaii state law rules and regulations.
- Driver's abstract or evidence of good driving record.
- Meet and comply with qualifications set forth in QMC Fleet Safety Policy.
B. EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
