PW Inspector/Inspectress

Primary Responsibilities: Oversee and monitor the cleaning of guest rooms to ensure that cleanliness and service levels are in compliance with the standards established by the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club.

Essential Duties:

  1. Visually inspect VIP rooms, guest rooms and corridors for cleanliness and proper appearance. Prepare work orders for any discrepancies.
  2. Train, coach and discipline the Room Attendants on maintaining cleaning standards established by management.
  3. Ensure that proper amenities are placed in each room prior to guest arrival.
  4. Ensure status of guest room coincides with front office status and updated as necessary.
  5. Prepare proper documents prior to the start of the shift.
  6. Sign in/out for keys, pagers, etc.
  7. Monitor daily functions to ensure all areas are cleaned and maintained according to hotel standards.
  8. Respond to and resolve housekeeping concerns from guests or other departments in a timely manner.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.


Other Duties:
  1. Supervise Rooms General Cleaning Team, Public Area staff, and Laundry staff whenever needed as requested by management team.
  2. Assist the Room Attendants and General Cleaners in securing all supplies necessary for the completion of duties as the need arises.
  3. Respond to guest inquiries. Provide guest assistance, directions and information as requested.
  4. Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in the event of fire or other emergency situations.


Working Conditions:
  1. Air-conditioned office environment, guest rooms, public areas or corridors.
  2. Must be able to work in dusty areas.
  3. Must be able to read and use cleaning chemicals.


Work Hours:
  1. Work day hours between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm to supervise majority of room cleaning.
  2. Must be able to work over 40 hours a week.


Equipment Use:
  1. Computer, copier, fax machine and other office tools and equipment.
  2. Answer telephone.
  3. Cleaning tools such as mop, broom, vacuum cleaner, etc.


Mental and Physical Demands:
  1. Must be able to prioritize tasks for the day.
  2. Must be able to calmly respond and resolve guest and employee concerns or problems.
  3. Must be able to stand and walk 6 to 7 hours a day to supervise attendants and certify rooms.
  4. Must be able to bend or squat to inspect rooms.
  5. Lift and carry 5 to 10 lbs to delivery housekeeping supplies to staff.


Communication Demands:
  1. Must be able to communicate to guests and employee over the phone or in person.
  2. Must be able to write and read instructions for work assignments and labels on cleaning chemicals.


Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  1. 1 year experience in housekeeping and supervisory
  2. CPR, First Aid Certification preferred.
