Accounting Position

The State of Hawai'i is seeking candidates for an accounting position on the Island of Oahu. This recruitment is part of the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, which features an expedited hiring process to fill job opportunities throughout Hawai'i.

Applicants will be reviewed for legal authorization to work in the US. Those who pass the initial review may be contacted for an interview. The application referral and potential interview do not imply that applicants have met all minimum qualification requirements. The Department of Human Resources Development will conduct a thorough review of all applications and notify applicants of the final disposition.

Salary: $4,221 - $5,338 per month (SR-15, Step C to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other factors. This continuous recruitment may be closed at any time.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Legal Authorization to Work Requirement
  • General Experience: Six months of work experience which demonstrated knowledge of arithmetic and spelling, and the ability to follow oral and written directions, write simply and directly, and observe differences in words and numbers quickly and accurately.
  • Specialized Experience: Four years of work experience involved in posting to accounting records and other systematizing of fiscal information; i.e., computing, classifying and recording numerical data to keep sets of financial accounting records complete and to derive reports there from. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of standard accounting classification and terminology pertinent to accounts maintenance operations, and office practices and procedures relating to the processing and recording of transactions and accounting information.
  • Supervisory Aptitude: Some positions require that applicants possess supervisory aptitude.
  • Federal Criminal History Records Check (TWIC): In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the harbor must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check.
