Position Summary

The Airport Information Unit Supervisor serves as the unit head and supervises airport communications/information work at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

  • Basic Education/Experience Requirement: One-half (1/2) year of work experience demonstrating correct English grammar and usage, the ability to read, understand and apply written instructions, the ability to understand and apply oral instructions, and maintain logs. This requirement may also be met by possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • General Experience: One (1) year of experience demonstrating the ability to speak clearly and to deal effectively with people either in person or through telecommunications.
  • Specialized Experience: One (1) year of experience in the operation of a telephone switchboard, public address system and/or a computer‑controlled Flight Information Display System.
  • Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of supervisory work, including planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; assigning and reviewing their work; advising them on difficult work problems; training and developing subordinates; and evaluating their work performance.

Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance

Persons considered for employment in positions requiring unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre‑employment fingerprint‑based criminal history record check. SIDA clearance is granted only if the applicant is found free of disqualifying convictions within the ten years preceding the application.
