Classify, rate, and input cargo information checked in into mainframe terminals to determine customer charges. Assist Operations in the movement of cargo arriving from the Neighbor Islands (NI). Notify customers of cargo availability and direct them to the appropriate pickup area. Retrieves and prepares pouch for outgoing cargo. To assist Operations in the movement of cargo going to the Neighbor Islands. This is achieved by making reservations for cargo.
Performs other duties within classification.
Equipment Use: Computer, 10-key adding machine, telephone, copy machine, facsimile machine.
Work hours: Monday through Friday shifts ranging from 6:00 am -- 6:00 pm as required by operational needs, Saturdays by operational needs on rotation, and overtime as required.
Skills knowledge: Must be able to keyboard at least 45 wpm. Must be able to proficiently operate basic office equipment such as telephone, 10-key adding machine, and computer terminal. Must be familiar with cargo tariff, sailing schedule, freight charge extensions and processing of Bill of Ladings. Ability to be Customer Service focused and multi tasked oriented. Good listening and communication skills required (verbal, reading, and writing) that allow clear and precise transfer of information.
High School degree or GED equivalent required.
General office experience preferred. 1 year Customer Service oriented background preferred.
