We are looking for a driven and curious Wastewater Treatment or Process Mechanical Engineer to work on projects locally in Hawaii and across the Western United States and broader Pacific region.

As a Treatment and/or Process Mechanical Engineer in Hawaii, you will join a core group of wastewater engineers and designers on studies, designs, and field assignments to communicate and deliver innovative solutions to challenging technical problems that our clients face. Your assignments will focus on wastewater treatment but may also include broader process mechanical engagements. You will be part of our collaborative team to provide the following services:

  • Evaluation of treatment and process options to determine the best approaches to solve client challenges
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex problems and solutions with clients
  • Design and implementation of pilot-scale treatment systems
  • Planning and design for full-scale treatment systems and treatment plant improvements for construction
  • Development of facility layouts and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Development of construction documents, including drawings and specifications
  • Evaluation and selection of process equipment, pumping systems, pipe materials, and valves
  • Data analysis and computer modeling
  • Technical report writing
  • Bidding and permitting services support
  • Construction services support
  • Field inspection of treatment/mechanical equipment

Heres what youll need:

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive process mechanical engineering and project delivery experience with water, wastewater, and/or industrial treatment, including planning, evaluations, and design
  • Educational emphasis and a strong interest in treatment and/or mechanical system design and operation
  • Self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis skills, technical problem-solving ability, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ideally, youll have:
    • Masters degree in civil, environmental, mechanical, or related engineering discipline
    • 10 or more years of direct experience in municipal wastewater treatment or process mechanical for water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and conveyance systems
    • Wastewater process modeling skills (e.g., Sumo, Biowin)
    • Hydraulic modeling skills (e.g., Fathom, Pipe-Flo)
    • Construction or facility operations experience
    • Active in relevant professional organizations
    • Working with and leading project teams and/or managing projects
    • Experience working and communicating directly with clients

The base salary range for this position is $91,400.00 to $159,900.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
