Network Engineer – Active TS/SCI Clearance Required

Full‑time position located in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Company: Akima Infrastructure Services (Akima Systems Engineering, ASE) – an Alaska Native Corporation engaged in federal systems support.

Job Overview

Network Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting DoD networking architecture across multiple enclaves with varying security classifications. Works closely with Senior Network Engineer, providing supplementary expertise and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, update, and secure network environments using Cisco IOS, routers, Layer‑2 access switches, Cisco ISE, Firepower, ACI, F5, Palo Alto, VMware NSX, SPLUNK, ACAS, and ServiceNow.
• Plan and execute network improvements and upgrades with minimal downtime; coordinate scheduled interruptions and generate after‑action reports.
• Perform cable management, develop workflows in ServiceNow, and monitor assets with ACAS.
• Maintain network and personnel security, manage access control, process service requests, resolve trouble tickets, document operational diagrams, and develop standard operating procedures.
• Support occasional after‑hours and weekend work for service outages; provide monthly reporting to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance, IA‑W DoDM 8410.03, intermediate proficiency level.
• One of the following 8570 IAT‑II certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP. Must also hold current CCNA.
• Minimum high‑school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of DoD network engineering experience or 5 years total network engineering experience.
• Experience managing Cisco routers, switches, firewalls (Firepower), ACI, ISE, Palo Alto firewalls, VMware NSX, SPLUNK, ACAS, WhatUpGold, and F5.
• Basic Microsoft Visio and Office suite skills.
• Ability to lift 40 lb and to work occasional after‑hours and weekend shifts.
