We are searching for an enthusiastic ambassador to showcase the rich culture and history of the Hawaiian Islands aboard our fleet, engaging guests and crew through programs, performances, lectures, and crafts.

Location: Honolulu, HI

Responsibilities

  • Create an effective Hawaiian program for all guests, ensuring each event is safe and on schedule.
  • Participate in and lead all assigned activities under the direction of the Cruise Director.
  • Teach guests how to make Fresh Flower & Kukui Nut Leis, Hawaiian art & craft classes, and related history.
  • Share the history of Hawaiian crafts, Leis, Aloha, ‘Ohana, and Hawaiian philosophy in classes.
  • Teach guests how to dance hula and the history behind it, and prepare grounds for main stage Hula Graduation Show.
  • Collaborate with the Band and Kama'aina Duo to plan, rehearse, perform, and host the Kanikapila show.
  • Deliver morning port lectures about islands' history and culture, while cross‑promoting shore excursions.
  • Provide destination lectures focused on Hawaiian history, language, and culture.
  • Narrate scenic voyages, specifically Na Pali Coastline and Kilauea Volcano.
  • Create a Hawaiian Entertainment Grid and complete Voyage Reports at voyage end.
  • Order and store all Hawaiian arts & crafts supplies safely and maintain organization.
  • Be approachable, patient, and a good listener, making guests feel at home.
  • Resolve problems and conflicts according to shipboard guidelines and management direction.
  • Always represent Hawaii and share the Aloha spirit with guests and crew.
  • Collaborate cohesively as a team.
  • Assist in training new Hawaiian Ambassador team members.
  • Be visible and available to guests, cementing credibility.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Follow Safety and Environmental Protection Policy, SEMS, and applicable procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • Must pass a basic safety course.
  • Must lead by example and provide quality service to all guests.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Hula (ancient and modern) and performance experience on stage.
  • Minimum one year experience as an entertaining Master of Ceremonies.
  • Knowledge and passion for Hawaiian entertainment, music, and Hula dance.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i.
  • Strong background in Hawaiian culture, history, and education.
  • Teaching and/or entertainment background preferred.
  • Strong public‑speaking skills.
  • Minimum one year previous service‑industry experience; tourism/travel industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in a hospitality‑related discipline.

Physical Requirements

  • Maintain balance while walking and standing.
  • Climb vertical ladders and stairways; step over a 24‑inch obstacle.
  • Move through a 24‑inch opening; open watertight doors up to 55 lb.
  • Lift at least 40 lb and carry, push or pull the load.
  • Manipulate common tools (wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers).
  • Crouch, kneel, crawl.
  • Recognize differences in texture and temperature by feel.
  • Stand on feet for up to four hours with minimal rest.
  • React to visual and audible alarms and instructions.
  • Normal conversation ability.
  • Pull a 1.5‑inch diameter, 50‑ft fire hose; lift a charged 1.5‑inch diameter fire hose.
  • Put on a Personal Flotation Device without assistance.
  • No physical limitations that hinder duties.
