Leidos is seeking licensed behavioral health professionals to become a part of our Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) Child and Youth Behavioral team. This role is designed to run on a school calendar for nine months and involves supporting military service members and their families as they navigate life adjustments while serving our country.

As a Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC), you will play a crucial role in delivering non-medical support including counseling, consultation, and outreach to eligible students, staff, parents, and families. Your preventive approach aims to address concerns before they escalate into major challenges.

Military children encounter distinct emotional and environmental hurdles due to the pressures of military life. This position offers you the chance to connect with them during critical moments when your assistance is most needed.

CYB-MFLC responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with youth and teens in the school environment.
  • Coaching, guiding, and supporting staff and parents through observation and participation in activities.
  • Providing presentations focused on social skills and social emotional learning vital for youth development.
  • Encouraging creativity and positivity using approved materials.
  • Building relationships with families by being present at community events.
  • Assisting families with transitional challenges such as adjusting to new schools and homes.
  • Participating in training and contract activities as assigned.
  • Communicating trends and issues from your location to team leads.

Benefits of being a CYB-MFLC include:

  • No insurance filing required.
  • No progress notes or treatment plans to create.
  • Provision of an iPad for digital reporting, ensuring no PII or PHI is stored.
  • Paid federal holidays.
  • Access to free and unlimited behavioral healthcare training.
  • Reimbursement for job-related license renewal fees.
  • Eligibility to enroll in a 401K retirement plan.
  • Support from a Counseling Center of Excellence offering best practices, expert speakers, and cutting-edge resources.

Additional responsibilities may involve:

  • Responding to emergencies across various locations on a military base.
  • Traveling to both indoor and outdoor sites, including traversing rugged terrains.
  • Adhering to site-specific requirements due to the nature of work within military installations.

Work Environment:

Activities will be split between approximately 60% indoor settings within schools governed by the state or Department of Defense Education Activity and 40% outdoor environments requiring agility in navigating uneven surfaces and exposure to changing weather conditions.

Licensure Portability:

Licensed Military and Family Life Counselors can now provide non-medical counseling services to military families nationwide, regardless of their state of licensure under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Minimum Requirements:

  • A master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
  • A valid independent mental health license from any U.S. state or territory (such as LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Able to pass a background check and attain a Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance.

At Leidos, we value innovative thinkers who strive to reshape the future. If you are always looking ahead, eager to tackle new challenges, we encourage you to apply.
