The City and County of Honolulu, Honolulu Board of Water Supply, is hiring a Lead Water Plant Maintenance Mechanic for a full-time permanent position. The monthly salary is $6,685.00. The job is located in Oahu, HI.
The position supervises and participates in the installation, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of a variety of water pumping plant and related water systems equipment; and performs other related duties as required. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
There are two vacancies with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, Water System Operations Division. The position is responsible for supervising and participating in the installing, testing, overhauling, repairing, and maintaining of pumping plant and water system equipment, machinery and instruments such as: deepwell turbine pumps and motors, horizontal centrifugal pumps and motors, automatic valves, chlorinators and limefeeders, flow recorders and meters, water level recorders and meters, pressure/suction vacuum gages and recorders, hydraulic systems, ventilating and cooling equipment, piping systems, cable cars, etc.
With general instructions from a higher level supervisor, supervises and participates in simple and routine installation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of plant electrical and electronic control devices, electrical systems, air conditioning equipment and appliances, and wiring devices pertaining to pumping plants, water treatment plants, water storage facilities, office buildings and other type of buildings and structures.
Special working conditions include high voltage electricity, heavy machinery, chlorine gas, moving machinery, and working on scaffolds. The various equipment may be located underground in basements, manholes, vaults, shafts, and pump rooms; aboveground on building and reservoir roofs; and remote locations which may require walking or working on uneven terrain.
