MENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST - HILO, HAWAII ISLAND

Description:

The State of Hawaii is seeking a mental health professional to provide clinical services to consumers with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) in community mental health centers, hospitals, institutional facilities, or other public health settings.

Responsibilities include mental health assessments, eligibility determinations, diagnoses, treatment, crisis intervention, consumer-centered advocacy, consultation, and evaluation. The work typically falls within the areas of Clinical Social Work Practice, Marriage and Family Therapy Practice, and Mental Health Counseling Practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in psychology, social work, or other related social/behavior science.
  • General Experience: One and a half years of responsible professional work experience that required a high degree of analytical skills, including gathering, evaluating, and analyzing facts and other pertinent information to resolve problems.
  • Specialized Experience: Two years of professional experience providing mental health clinical services to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups with mental illness(es), including mental health assessments, evaluations, and provision of mental health services.
