The Claims Manager oversees and manages all aspects of the claims process within the heavy civil construction industry, including General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto Liability, Equipment Damage, and other third-party claim types. The ideal candidate will have extensive claims management experience, particularly within the construction industry, and will coordinate closely with Regional Safety Professionals and Operations Management to support risk management and claims mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Claims Management: Oversee the daily management of all claims (General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto Liability, Equipment Damage, and other third-party claims); ensure timely and accurate reporting to insurers and third-party administrators; lead investigations; gather documentation and evidence; evaluate and analyze claim data to identify trends and recommend proactive measures.
• Coordination with Safety and Operations: Collaborate with Regional Safety Professionals to integrate safety practices into claims management and risk mitigation; align claims handling with operational priorities and project timelines; facilitate regular meetings to discuss ongoing claims and develop action plans; participate in job site safety audits and incident reviews, providing claims expertise.
• Risk Mitigation: Partner with project managers, safety teams, and legal counsel to reduce claim frequency and severity; conduct site visits and safety meetings to assess risks and recommend preventive measures; review contracts and insurance policies for adequate coverage and compliance.
• Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present detailed reports on claim trends and costs to senior management; monitor and manage the claims budget; coordinate with insurers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
• Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all claims are handled in compliance with applicable laws and company policies; stay current on changes in legislation and industry standards.
• Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Liaise with external vendors, including legal counsel, investigators, and medical providers; maintain relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, and other stakeholders.
• Contracts: Assist the Contracts Department by providing information on past and current claims for timely completion of prequalification questionnaires.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Bachelors degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in claims management, preferably within the heavy civil construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto Liability, and other third-party claims.
• Strong understanding of construction industry practices, risks, and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel as needed to project sites and meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as ARM (Associate in Risk Management) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) are highly desirable.
• Experience with litigation management and familiarity with construction contracts.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $130,000 to $163,000 annually.
