SUPPORT POSITION
The City and County of Honolulu, Department of Community Services (DCS), is
seeking a skilled and adaptable professional to support the Administration Division,
which manages the department's core administrative functions. DCS is looking for
someone who is organized, dependable and comfortable managing multiple priorities
in a fast-paced environment while contributing to a team committed to collaboration
and public service. Help support DCS employees by playing a vital role in fulfilling
the department's mission by ensuring that staff receive human resources support and
have the necessary funding in place so they have the resources to deliver essential
programs and services to individuals and families facing economic challenges or to
those who have special needs.
In this multi-faceted role, you will:
- Manage key human resources responsibilities, including hiring/recruitment,
labor relations, employee benefits and personnel investigations.
- Handle critical budgeting tasks such as compiling data, analyzing and
recommending adjustments to annual budget requests, advising divisions on
budget requirements and processes, preparing projections and monitoring
expenditures.
- Provide essential administrative operational support, including maintaining
property management and inventory systems for the department.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Special Working Conditions: Serves as Disaster Support Worker during Civil
Defense/Emergency Management emergencies.
At the time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien
of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted
employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university
with a bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
3 years of professional (non-clerical) work experience in budget administration,
personnel management (i.e., human resources), or management analysis.
Substitution: A Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business
Administration, or Public Administration from a regionally-accredited four-year
college/university may be substituted for six (6) months of the required work
experience.
