Job Summary

The Senior Director of Facilities and Construction Management oversees and manages the company's existing facilities and new construction projects to ensure strategic and hands on direction, timeliness, and proper stewardship of company resources. Embracing the company's Guiding Principles and working with urgency, the Senior Director will collaborate with company leadership to understand and prioritize, budget and plan both the development and construction of new stores and proper upkeep and maintenance of existing facilities. The Senior Director all will provide support to other entities for which the company provides construction and facilities support services.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Oversight/Management

  • Works with senior leadership to ensure construction projects and ongoing facilities maintenance needs are prioritized and completed to expectations.
  • Oversees the planning, construction management and financial management of new construction and renovation projects.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather input and communicate feedback to vendor/partners.
  • Presents and manages plans and budgets for store development projects.
  • Assists in vendor selection and procurement, and capital and operational purchases.
  • Oversees permitting, and manages design team to ensure compliance code requirements, permit requirements, and lease requirements.
  • Oversees contractor and vendor performance during construction, including approval of payments and change orders, and inspection, correction and acceptance of work.
  • Oversees management, maintenance, repair and replacement of facilities and equipment.
  • Develops and maintains equipment inventory, repair and replacement schedules and budget.
  • Ensures repair and maintenance requests are completed to specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Responds and provides support in emergency situations that may arise during non-office hours.
  • Ensures facilities comply with relevant laws, regulations and safety standards
  • Provides support to real estate management team

Fiscal Management

  • Participates in the formulation and forecast of operating and capital expenditures to meet the company's strategic objectives.
  • Meets or exceeds budget plans for areas assigned and achieves financial goals as determined by leadership team.

Operational Leadership

  • Implements and promotes a customer focused vision.
  • Ensures staff understand the mission and goals of the department and perform their duties in a manner that supports the philosophy of the company's Hoaloha Guiding Principles.
  • Provides leadership and direction in effective communication.
  • Provides leadership and direction to management staff to ensure a safe work environment

Other Duties

  • Other duties and projects assigned.


Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, facilities management, engineering, architecture or related field.
  • Master's degree in business administration, construction management, engineering, architecture or related field, preferable
  • Ten (10) years' progressive experience in engineering or construction management.
  • Five (5) years executive/management experience in facilities, engineering, or construction management, preferably of similar size and nature.

Other Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills, with a strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to effectively manage and hold design professionals, contractors and vendors accountable to budgets and schedules.
  • Proficient in Microsoft – Word, Excel, Power Point.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Hawaii license as a Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer station.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, such as computers, printers, and telephones.
  • Visual Ability: Ability to read and analyze data on computer screens and printed documents.
  • Mobility: Occasionally required to move around the office to access files, office supplies, or attend meetings.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry office supplies, files, and equipment weighing up to 15-20 pounds.
  • Travel: The employee must have the ability to drive a motor vehicle and be able to travel to various locations via air and motor vehicle.
