THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Food Service Driver is primarily responsible for delivering food to various island-wide locations, securing mandatory paperwork for audit purposes, properly handling food on deliveries, and maintaining vehicle and mileage records and program equipment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Scheduled for work 5 days a week. Monday - Friday primarily 5:00 am to 1:00 pm however shifts may vary. May be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and holidays.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING:
Confirm route schedule and delivery times daily.
Verify counts, changes, special meals and all other components associated with meal service.
Pack meals in transport equipment such as heated caddies, holding caddies, and coolers. Lifts and loads filled equipment into company vehicle.
Deliver meals to assigned routes in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
Maintain vehicles including mileage record, fuel, sanitation, general maintenance, and security.
Adhere to all traffic rules and regulations.
Maintain all other program equipment including heated caddies, holding caddies, coolers and cellular telephones.
Clean kitchen either by wiping, washing, moping, dusting, sweeping, emptying disposal bin, waxing, scraping, buffing, etc.
Clean kitchen appliances, utensils, pots and pans and cooking equipment at regular intervals meeting Food Service sanitation standard.
Ensure supplies are properly stored, stocked, labeled and rotated utilizing the FIFO method and made available to complete assignments.
Inspect equipment and tools.
Report any maintenance problems to supervisor; does not operate any equipment or tools in unsafe condition.
Perform general cleaning of equipment and tools at regular intervals.
Support kitchen staff in the preparation of meals and for deliveries to customers, as required.
Working knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Be sensitive to the needs of the elderly, caregivers, and people with disabilities.
Complete assignments according to quality and safety standards.
Attend and participate in training or demonstration to others on how to complete tasks meeting quality and safety standards.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
High School or Certificate of Completion or equivalent
Minimum1 year related work; previous commercial driving preferred
Clearance/Certification: 1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug testing, 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check.
Valid driver license and clean driver's abstract
Assigned company vehicle for deliveries and company cellular phone.
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor - kitchen environment; steam and heat from cooking and dish washing often cause uncomfortably high temperatures. The area is usually noisy, floors may be damp/wet where food or beverages have been dripped or wet from daily mopping that is usually performed while the workers are in the area.
Some workers may be subjected to getting wet while using steam/pressure-washing equipment. Some workers are exposed to extreme temperatures of the hot kitchen and the walk-in refrigerator or freezer and reefers. Will be exposed to weather outside weather conditions including heat, rain and humidity.
