Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) – HDR.
Base pay range: $163,422.00/yr - $324,250.00/yr. HDR is employee-owned and committed to an inclusive environment and participation in a broad benefits package. This role reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director and focuses on national leadership in CM business development, project delivery, and group leadership/communications for water infrastructure construction management.
Scope includes capturing best practices, tools, templates, and intelligence to sustain HDR's CM delivery across the entire Business Group.
Location: United States (remote options available across HDR offices). Schedule: Full-time. Employment status: Regular. Business Class: Construction Services (HDRE).

Responsibilities
- Business Development: maintain market intelligence on competition, partners, acquisitions and hires; capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with fees; maintain CM pursuit targets and client maintenance plans; support capture planning, preproposal visits, qualifications, and proposal preparation; provide marketing support to elevate HDR's hit rate; maintain a list of major CM/PM/OA projects; maintain tool kits and promote best practices across the Business Group; implement presentation/interview training workshops for Senior Construction Managers.
- Project Delivery: capture and disseminate CM delivery lessons learned; apply HDR best practices, templates, and protocols for consistent coast-to-coast CM delivery; collaborate with other directors on delivery of existing projects and long-term tactical plans; provide principal-level project management and issue resolution; track actual costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development; maintain CM/CI resources and provide resource planning; lead PARR reviews and train staff to become Lead Reviewers; perform site audits; promote and manage HDR field reporting tools and CM software; serve as WBG point of contact for CMIS questions; update and maintain Construction Management Manual, procedures, forms, and field checklists.
- Leadership & Communications: reinvigorate the CM Practice Community; coordinate with Field Services leadership and participate in Field Services Steering Committee; engage with CMAA, maintain CCM designation visibility, and manage membership and nominations; ensure staff development and training for CM.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a professional, architecture, engineering, or closely related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a related field
- Professional registration (e.g., PE) and related technical experience
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams
- Ability to work cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers
- Commitment to quality, improvement, HDR values, and employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years in water infrastructure project delivery
- PE or related professional certifications
- Location flexibility to be based in any HDR US office
