Job Purpose

The Enrollment and Engagement Coordinator connects youth and their families to Lili?uokalani Center programs and services. This role focuses on recruitment, kamali?i enrollment, and fostering engagement to ensure youth can access opportunities that support their growth, cultural identity, and well-being.

Liliuokalani Center (LC):

Informed by a deep understanding of the adolescent experience andgrounded in Hawaiian culture, the new Lili?uokalani Center will provide Hawaiian youth with opportunities to connect to peers and mentors, receive supportive services, and discover pathways to passion, purpose, and prosperity. LC will be LTs signature youth development hub for culture, creativity, technology, and play, and will serve as a resource center where youth can connect to vital supports, and a vibrant community. LC will be a safe space located in urban Honolulu where youth are inspired to pursue their dreams, including exploring pathways in the arts, sports, technology, and entrepreneurship while receiving wraparound support to help them reach their goals and become thriving adults.A primary function of LC will be to provide a space for young people to play, to learn, to find connection and inspiration, and to experience joy. Currently under construction, LC is set to open in Spring of 2025.

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to connect Hawaiian youth and families with Lili?uokalani Center
  • Coordinate and manage enrollment, guiding youth and families through the process while addressing barriers to access
  • Serve as a primary point of contact, providing information and resources to help youth navigate available services and programs
  • Provide ongoing support to enrolled youth, checking in regularly to ensure they remain engaged and connected to appropriate resources, including coordinating with probation officers and case workers as needed
  • Track and assess engagement data to improve program effectiveness, including identifying trends related to system-involved youth and collaboration with probation officers, case workers, and other support services to enhance access and retention
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities and oversee placement to enhance program capacity
  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure appropriate staffing and provide coverage as needed

Other Duties:

  • Assist in building relationships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to support recruitment and enrollment efforts
  • Coordinate kamali?i engagement through the administration of virtual engagement strategies and the planning of in-person activities that are inclusive, culturally relevant, and aligned with Lili?uokalani Center goals
  • Support the planning and coordination of events, workshops, and open houses to engage youth and promote engagement
  • Assist in connecting with Lili?uokalani Centers Youth Advisory Committee to support youth leadership opportunities
  • Participate in recruitment efforts, representing Liliuokalani Center at events and helping to promote programs
  • Evening and weekend hours required as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in social work or a related field required; Masters degree preferred
  • At least four years of experience in youth case management or social services; juvenile justice, child welfare preferred
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of Hawaiian culture and values, with the ability to integrate these into outreach and engagement efforts
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Valid drivers license, clean traffic abstract
  • TB clearance
  • Collaboration: Ability to interact effectively with youth, community partners, and multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge of community resources and services

  • Communication: Clearly convey and receive information and ideas. Engage the listener and invite response and feedback. Demonstrate strong written, oral, and listening skills
  • Cultural Competence: Respect and relate well to people from varied backgrounds and sensitive to group differences. Experience working with at-risk youth and ability to apply positive youth development principles to that work
  • Relationship Management: Experience working with staff at all levels in a collaborative environment; ability to promote and sustain positive workplace values and relationships
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well under pressure and to remain calm and controlled when faced with challenging situations

Travel Requirements:

In alignment with our organizational competencies of Alu Like I ka Hana (Teamwork) and Ho`omau i ka `imi Na`auao (Continuous Learning and Improvement), this position will require occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state depending on the needs of the team and the organization. While travel may not always be a need, the ability to travel when required remains a crucial aspect of this position.

Perform light physical work, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting weights of up to 25 pounds.
