Overview

Position Title: Environmental Health and Safety Technician (EHS Tech)

Reports To: Safety Superintendent

The EHS Technician ensures environmental, health, and safety compliance as outlined by federal, state, and local agencies and as contractually required.

Base pay range: $25.00/hr - $35.00/hr. This range is provided by Pacific Shipyards International. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the EHS Safety Superintendent
  • Monitors, evaluates, and enforces the PSI Environmental, Health and Safety programs
  • Conducts routine safety inspections and surveillances; ensures discrepancies are corrected
  • Maintains administrative files as required by the EHS Manual, NPDES permit and other requirements
  • Completes accident/incident/illness investigations and reports to Management and Corporate Insurance Department
  • Provides training as necessary to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, the EHS Manual and to ensure the ongoing education and safety of employees
  • Maintains safety training records
  • Conducts Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure employees take required precautionary measures
  • Maintains HAZ/Non-HAZ waste site(s) and materials
  • Assists in performance of tasks related to environmental compliance with NPDES per management, state, and/or federal laws, rules, and/or regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education / Training
  • Minimum of 2 years of safety/environmental experience in the marine repair/construction industry preferable
  • Shipyard Competent Person Certification experience preferred
  • OSHA 10-hour maritime, construction or general industry certification
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
  • First Aid / CPR certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones

Qualification / Requirement
  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
  • Valid State of Hawaii REAL ID-Compliant Drivers License in good standing, Class 3 or higher or a valid U.S. Passport in addition to a valid Hawaii Drivers License, if you do not have a REAL ID-Compliant Drivers License.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of a shift
