IT Specialist (SYSADMIN)

You will serve as an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) of Commander Navy Region Hawaii. Responsibilities include consulting with customers to identify and specify requirements, developing and maintaining IT architecture for telecommunication, and conducting business process reengineering.

Qualifications include:

• One year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies:
• Attention to Detail
• Customer Service
• Oral Communication
• Problem Solving
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:
• Interpreting fire alarm and intrusion detection system integration
• Interpreting Cisco network administration to include installation, configuration, maintaining, designing and troubleshooting
• Interpreting Microsoft operating system installation, configuration, upgrading, disaster recovery, and troubleshooting
• Identifying and implementing cyber security standards and controls, and policies for IT systems and applications

Education requirements include:

• Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
• Or, successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
