Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Technical Product Manager role at Pearson

This role sits at Pearson, where we are committed to helping people make progress in their lives through learning. We create innovative and accessible educational products and services that foster personal and professional growth. We are looking for a passionate and skilled Sr. Product Manager to join our team and drive the development of cutting-edge educational products.

We embrace the SVPG Product Operating Model by empowering our product teams to solve hard problems – customer problems and business problems – in ways that our customers love yet work for our business. Our product teams are cross-functional, durable and generally comprise a product manager, product design, tech lead and a program manager (4-in-a-box model).

We staff our product teams with the skills necessary to come up with effective solutions that are valuable (customers choose to buy or use), viable (the solution works within business constraints), usable (the user can figure out how to use), and feasible (our engineers have the skills and technology to implement). The product manager is accountable for ensuring the solution is both valuable and viable.

The product manager must contribute solid knowledge of business constraints from marketing, sales, support, finance, legal and privacy, deep knowledge of users and customers, and data on how customers engage with our products. They are also expected to track industry trends and the competitive landscape as they pertain to their product. The product team works together to discover effective solutions and deliver them to market. While teams are empowered to find the best solutions, they are also accountable for results. Shipping is necessary, but not sufficient.

This job is an individual contributor role. You will need to influence teammates, colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives through data and logic.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product designer and engineers to discover and deliver solutions that are valuable and viable.
  • Contribute a deep knowledge of business constraints (marketing, sales, support, finance, legal, privacy) and user data to inform product decisions.
  • Track industry trends and the competitive landscape as they pertain to the product.
  • Own accountability for delivering outcomes and driving results, while working through others to achieve necessary results.
  • Influence teammates and stakeholders using data-informed arguments and clear written narratives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery
  • Proven track record over multiple years as an individual contributor product manager responsible for value and viability of solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business – engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to solve hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgment to assess risks, and to present a well-structured, data-informed argument
  • Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including skill set, level of experience, and location. The pay range for this position is between $130,000 - $170,000. The position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is provided by the company.

This position is remote; job details reflect the full-time schedule and role responsibilities as described.
