Location: On-Site - Kāne'ohe, Hawai'i

Schedule: Full-time; open availability including weekends and holidays is required. Flexibility may be needed for emergency repairs and special projects.

Position Summary

The Prop Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, construction, and upkeep of props, sets, and signs used across Kualoa Ranch tours. As a backdrop for numerous films and television productions, Kualoa Ranch uses various props left behind from these productions, and this role plays a critical part in maintaining their quality and functionality. The Prop Maintenance Technician enhances the guest experience by ensuring that all props and sets are in optimal condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the condition of props and sets around tour routes; perform on-site repairs as needed.
• Construct, repair, and maintain major props with high-quality craftsmanship.
• Build custom sign frames and securely install them on the ground or walls.
• Repair plaster, concrete, drywall, light metal, and detailed woodwork.
• Carry out detailed painting, sanding, striping, and finishing work.
• Conduct regular inspections of props and sets to identify areas needing repair.
• Ensure all work meets safety regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with guests during tours.
• Respond promptly to any prop-related issues that may impact the guest experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in construction or related fields.
• Proficiency in carpentry and finish woodworking.
• Experience in stucco, concrete, drywall, and plaster work.
• Strong painting and striping skills, including sanding and detailed finishing.
• General cleaning and maintenance skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent customer service skills for guest interactions.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in framing, construction, and detailed woodworking.
• Familiarity with general handyman tasks.
• Experience working with movie or performing arts sets is an advantage.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform labor-intensive tasks, including lifting 50-75 lbs.
• Comfortable climbing ladders and working on roofs.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
