The Aircraft Mechanic I (Sheetmetal/ Structures, AH-64) Repairs and replaces aircraft structural components to include stingers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. Repairs, fabricates, modifies and installs structural parts, forming blocks, and shapes metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques. Mixes and applies fiberglass materials. Balances rotary-wing aircraft blades. Makes emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures. Uses common measuring tools, precision measuring gages, and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs. Performs checks; carry out inspections and removal of components. Mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces. Applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals. Comprehends technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
