Pipefitter Leader

You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. However, we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-the-job technical guidance to a small work group of approximately 5 - 15 employees.
  • Assign, pass on instructions to the work group, takes the lead in laying out their work, and may personally perform the more difficult tasks.
  • Review assigned job orders/JICs, plans and specifications, plans, lay out work and worker assignments.
  • Resolve any problems that may arise such as ambiguous aspects of the job order/JIC specifications and plans, unattainable completion dates, substitution of materials, additional manpower, etc.
  • Assist the supervisor in assigning work to subordinates taking into account established schedules and priority work, capabilities, and workload distribution.
  • Check work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met.
  • Insure that adequate tools, materials and equipment are available, properly used, stored, and maintained.
  • Recommend to your superior a course of action on a variety of personnel matters and actions, but generally lacks authority to take final action on any official personnel matters.
