Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of supply disposal and utility systems installation and operation. Ability to plan and lay out installation and modification of systems and equipment, interpret blueprints, and use shop mathematics. Skilled in trade methods and techniques, tools, and equipment of the plumbing trade. Possession or ability to obtain applicable government operator permits. Valid drivers license required.
Responsibility: Use personal knowledge to select tools, determine methods, and complete work with minimal supervision. Select materials, obtain replacement parts, and test systems to ensure proper repair according to requirements.
Physical Effort: Work may involve ladders, scaffolding, and hard-to-reach areas. Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in tiring positions. Frequently lift and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 45 lbs; heavier loads with assistance.
Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors, often in dirty, dusty, or greasy environments. Repairs may be required in bad weather or areas with foul fumes. Exposure to potential injuries such as fractures, cuts, burns, and infections is possible.
