An Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager in the planning, execution, and completion of projects. This position is essential for the smooth operation of project activities, ensuring deadlines are met, budgets are adhered to, and quality standards are maintained. The APM acts as a bridge between stakeholders, facilitating communication and coordination to advance the project efficiently.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in developing comprehensive project plans, including defining scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Help identify and allocate resources necessary for project completion, ensuring efficient use.
  • Assist in creating detailed project schedules and timelines, monitor progress, and adjust as needed.
  • Organize and participate in project meetings, prepare agendas, take notes, and follow up on action items.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes, progress reports, and plans.
  • Support quality assurance measures to ensure deliverables meet standards.
  • Identify potential risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Help resolve project issues to minimize impact on timelines and objectives.
  • Assist in tracking expenses and budgets, ensuring effective financial management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to control costs.
  • Prepare and present financial reports highlighting key metrics and variances.
  • Coordinate activities of the project team, ensuring tasks are clearly assigned.
  • Maintain a positive attitude focused on resolving challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Problem-solving skills to address project challenges.
  • High attention to detail for accuracy in documentation and reporting.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, business administration, engineering, or a related field; Construction Management degree is a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as CAPM are advantageous.
  • Previous experience in project management or related roles is essential.
  • Experience in relevant industries (e.g., industrial, food manufacturing, cold storage) is beneficial.
  • BIM experience is a plus.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel regularly for site visits, meetings, training, and events.
  • Travel expected to be at least 25%.
  • Willingness to relocate onsite full-time if required.
  • Maintain professionalism during business trips.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for long periods.
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Use of office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, scanners.
  • Visual acuity for detailed work.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
