Description:

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has a variety of Land Agent positions at different levels available within the Land Division located on Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. The duties and responsibilities of these positions may include conducting inspections of encumbered and unencumbered lands, conducting routine activities related to managing leases, permits, and other encumbrances on State land, processing requests to use State land, managing unencumbered State lands and performing other duties related to the management of State lands of the assigned island; actively participating in the work of property management by, among other things managing the land (including submerged lands) and properties (with or without improvements) under the management jurisdiction of the division, and sources of revenue for the Special Land and Development Fund including leases, agreements, contracts, easements, fee sales, revocable permits, and concessions; participating in identifying, establishing, and managing new sources of revenue for the special fund; performing these duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures as may be established and amended from time to time; and performing other duties as assigned. Basic Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree. Specialized Experience Requirement: None (0) for the I level, One-half (1/2) year for the II level; one and one-half (1-1/2) years for the III level; and for the IV level, two and one-half (2-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional experience which demonstrated knowledge of Hawaii Land laws, real estate laws and terminology, the real property appraisal process, various types of land titles and legal instruments affecting land transactions; and the ability to gather and analyze land transaction data; prepare reports of findings, including conclusions and recommendations, and meet and deal effectively with others. For the IV level, at least one (1) year of the required experience must have been comparable to that of the next lower level in State service. Substitutions Allowed: A master's degree from an accredited college or university in real estate, property management, appraising, land management, or a closely related major, may be substituted for one (1) year of the Specialized Experience.
