Job Opportunity with State of Hawai'i

The State of Hawai'i is offering a temporary full-time position located in Manoa to Kahala for the Department of Health. Immediate vacancies are also available in Downtown for the Department of Health and Department of Human Services.

Salary: $5,369 to $6,535 per month (SR 22, Step D to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Employees appointed to temporary positions may gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months. Once you become a member of the civil service, you become eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions. You may also enjoy other rights and benefits afforded to an employee in a permanent position with the exception of return rights and placement rights associated with a reduction-in-force.

Duties Summary

Provides assistance in determining and promoting the needs of children and youth by planning, developing and conducting research; serves as liaison and technical resource person for assigned areas of responsibility; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Legal Authorization to Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • General Experience: One and one-half year of progressively responsible professional analytical work experience which demonstrated the ability to analyze programs, budgets, services, facilities, manpower requirements, operations or organizations to determine their effectiveness, achievement of program objectives, cost factors, and to participate in planning for future needs or for related management purposes.
  • Specialized Experience: One year of progressively responsible professional analytical work experience in a program or agency servicing children and youth which provided knowledge of the needs and characteristics in children and youth and which demonstrated the ability to conduct studies and analysis of services, programs and problems and needs of children and youth, conduct operational studies, and prepare report of findings and recommendations.
