Serves as a bartender in the beverage department of the Hale Koa Hotel. This position will remain open until 12/31/25 with a first cutoff date of 06/05/25 for employment consideration. Local candidates will be reviewed first as PCS is not authorized. If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered. Responsibilities include operating a full-service bar, mixing and serving a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, assisting customers by discussing beverages available, their contents and mixing special drinks according to customer direction, recording sales, making change or preparing charge slips in accordance with operating procedures, stocking bar, keeping bar, utensils, equipment and work area clean and sanitary, keeping records of quantities of beverages dispensed and submitting requirement for re-stocking to supervisor, receiving and checking quantity and description of stock, providing work direction for other employees in the bar area, using tact and courtesy to deny further sales to persons whose conduct has become unruly or who appear to be intoxicated. Skills and knowledge include skill in mixing complex drinks, applying simple arithmetic in calculating bills and making change, ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and take necessary remedial action, ability to train and guide other employees, good customer relations skills. Work is performed without close supervision, responsible for overall operation of the bar, accountable for receipts and inventory. Physical effort includes regularly lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds, stands for prolonged periods. Working conditions are primarily indoors, exposed to cuts and bruises. Requirements include meeting state/local age requirements for the serving of alcoholic at the time of appointment, experience as a full service bartender, possessing skills in mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, possessing math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory. Only those candidates meeting highly-qualifying criteria will be initially referred. Highly qualifying criteria include experience in bartending within the last 2 years, experience in a resort, hotel, nightclub or restaurant setting, knowledge of Micros POS Systems.
