Director Of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources serves as a pivotal member of the University Health Partners of Hawaii (UHP) leadership team. This role is responsible for guiding and managing the comprehensive administration, coordination, and evaluation of all human resource functions. Key objectives include: oversight of day-to-day HR operations, development of a superior workforce, cultivation of an employee-oriented culture, and championing a collaborative and supportive spirit within UHP. The major areas of responsibility encompass ensuring regulatory compliance, recruiting and staffing, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, performance management and improvement systems, employee development and training, employee services, and organization development programs.

Location: Hybrid - Central Business Office - Gold Bond Building/WFH 3 days per week Full-Time Mon-Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm

Essential Job Duties and Functions
  • Development and execution of HR strategies in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Review UHPs policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters, and provide recommendations for improvement to executive management.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to HR matters.
  • Coordinate major recruitment searches within UHP.
  • Communicate changes in UHPs Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Assist executive management in the annual review, preparation, and administration of UHPs wage, salary, and benefit programs.
  • Consult with legal counsel as directed by the CEO on HR issues.
  • Collaborate directly with department managers and chairs to support their responsibilities in carrying out their responsibilities on Human Resource matters.
  • Recommend, evaluate, and implement staff development initiatives for UHP.
  • Manage and mentor the staff in the Human Resources department.
  • Participate in the HR Committee of the UHP Board of Directors.
  • Complies with all legal requirements and company policies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

Education/Training/Experience Minimum: Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management (or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years of experience in an oversight capacity within an Human Resources environment. Preferred: SPHR Certification or SHRM-SCP. Ten (10) years of experience across varied Human Resources areas, with work experience in the healthcare industry and/or an academic environment.

Skills Knowledge Minimum: Strong written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Strong organizational skills. Comprehensive working knowledge of employment laws. Readily adapts to change and is open to technological advancements.
