Lube & Tire Helper

Description:

At Servco Toyota Leeward, we are committed to providing top notch service to our customers. Our Lube & Tire Helpers keep our customers' vehicles running smooth by safely and quickly performing oil and tire changes on our customers' vehicles.

Service Vehicles

Punch repair order (RO) through time clock. Review work order to determine work to be performed and parts needed. Obtain necessary parts & supplies. Prepare work area. Perform stated service (i.e. oil changes, visual inspections, tire related work, other services as needed.) Report additional repairs needed to the Asst. Service Mgr. Perform quality check of service performed (i.e. road test, visual inspection, etc. Perform lot attendant duties as needed when not tire/lube jobs are available. Maintain productivity without jeopardizing work quality No damage to vehicles or parts of vehicles Follow manufacturer's repair procedures: shop manual, TSB, Campaigns, etc. Follow all policies and procedures when servicing or repairing vehicles to include: affixing campaign and LOF stickers, resetting maintenance and tire pressure lights. Daily maintenance of shop and personal equipment and supplies. Example: All technician tools, shop manuals and equipment are cleaned, secured and properly put away daily. Deplete all shop supplies before new ones are obtained for replacement. All warranty parts are tagged and turned into the Parts Department daily. Old parts are returned to the customer or disposed of properly No warranty charge backs for "Parts not turned in." Assist other technicians as needed.

Training

a. Actively contribute to and participate in all technical training as assigned.

b. Maintain ASE, state & manufacturer's certification and licensing requirements.

c. Attend safety training as required.

d. Review technical bulletins, publications and other resources available to improve skills and knowledge

e. Attend shop meetings as required.

Safety (concurrent with other duties)

a. Complete work according to applicable safety requirements/procedures.

b. Proper use and storage of tools and equipment.

c. Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with TSM and company policies and procedures

d. Report unsafe conditions/hazards.

e. Report injuries.

Professional & performance Standards (Concurrent with other duties)

a. Maintain adequate tool inventory and complete and maintain tool inventory list

b. Ensure customer's vehicles are returned clean.

c. Produce quality work that evidences pride in workmanship.

d. Maintain personal grooming, cleanliness & uniform standards.

e. Arrive at work, take breaks and leave work at times designated by management.

f. Show common courtesy and respect to all customers, employees, and others.

g. Achieve the production objectives set by management.

h. Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner.

i. Constructively & professionally communicate with dealership personnel to satisfy customer needs as required.

j. Abide by safety and house rules.

Customer Relations

a. Develops and exercises positive relationships with all others in the performance of the job.

b. Provide friendly courteous, competent and satisfying or better service to all customers.

c. Maintain customer satisfaction levels to meet expectation or above

c. Maintains good attendance. Must be able to work a 4/10 (4 days per week, 10 hours per day) work schedule; Wednesday to Saturday from 7:00am - 5:30pm

h. At minimum, maintains satisfactory performance and strives to exceed performance expectations. Responsible to improve job skills and job knowledge through reading and attending training

Other duties as assigned.

A.S. Degree in Auto Technology.

General automotive repair experience.

A.S. Degree in Auto Technology, ASE Certifications

Required Certifications, Licenses, Etc: Driver's License, 3 Passenger Vehicles

Preferred Certifications, Licenses, Etc: Front End, Brakes

Responsibilities:
  • Perform oil changes, including draining and replacing oil and oil filter
  • Remove, replace, and/or repair tires and complete tire rotations
  • Visually inspect vehicle to determine if additional work is needed
  • Report any concerns or signs of potential vehicle problems to the Service Consultant
  • Safely dispose of all waste including oil, old filters, tires, etc.
  • Clean and maintain all shop related tools
  • Serve as a back-up Lot Attendant as needed
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and strong driving record
  • Ability to safely operate manual and automatic transmission for a variety of vehicle sizes
  • Basic set of automotive repair tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Associate of Science Degree in Auto Technology and oil changing/tire work experience highly desirable
  • Must be able to work a 4/10 (4 days per week, 10 hours per day) work schedule; Wednesday to Saturday from 7:00am - 5:30pm

A Lube & Tire Helper is paid a competitive hourly wage, with opportunities to advance into other positions such as Auto Technician roles. Note: In order to qualify for an Auto Technician position, an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology is required, so we recommend looking into this degree early on if this is the career path that you are interested in pursuing.
