Employees appointed to temporary positions may also gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months. Once you become a member of the civil service, you become eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions. You may also enjoy other rights and benefits afforded to an employee in a permanent position with the exception of return rights and placement rights associated with a reduction-in-force.
Duties Summary
Note: These vacancies are not secretarial, clerical, or office support positions.
The Administrative Specialist aids in getting things done through knowledge of and skill in dealing with organizations, work flow processes, funding, resources, equipment and the other tools or resources of management. The focus of the work is in the management of financial and human resource; however, a position in this series also performs key work in several other vital functions or services, such as program evaluation and analysis, budgeting, management analysis, procurement, service contract negotiations and administration, reports management, data processing and similar or closely related activities.
Level III position is responsible for assisting a higher level Specialist or Officer in overseeing the administrative aspects of a program and organization. Duties include managing operational details; providing guidance and advice to component organizational units; overseeing conformance to administrative plans, policies and procedures; and serving as liaison between the program and other offices and agencies; and performs other duties as assigned.
Level IV position is responsible for assisting a program manager/administrator in developing and overseeing the administrative aspects of a program and organization. Positions in this class are responsible for providing independent professional administrative support services in managing the resources of the program and organization, primarily its fiscal and human resources; and performs other duties as assigned.

Legal Authorization to Work

Education
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Specialized Experience
One and one-half (1-1/2) years for Level III, and for Level IV, two and one-half (2-1/2) years of business administration, public administration, or other responsible professional experience which required a high degree of analytical skill (e.g., operation management, business analyst, budget/fiscal analyst, etc.) and which involved evaluating and improving elements such as managerial policies, systems, work methods and practices, personnel needs and utilization, and quality of services rendered, of an operating program.
Driver's License
Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS (PSLF) PROGRAM
The PSLF Program is a federal program that is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans. To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.
