Job Summary

A SOC Analyst is responsible for cybersecurity operations, incident response, and cyber defense measures across centralized and distributed locations supporting the Warfighter Training Readiness Solutions (W-TRS) program under the U.S. Army PEO STRI. This involves continuous 24/7 monitoring, analysis, and response to cyber threats, ensuring compliance with best practices and operational procedures for defensive cyber operations. The analyst proactively implements defense strategies, maintains compliance and reporting metrics, and aligns with DoD cybersecurity policies. They also generate reports related to FISMA, RMF ConMon, and security incidents, while operating, maintaining, and deploying enterprise cyber tools.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of cybersecurity operations (protection, detection, response, and sustainment).
• Understanding of current cybersecurity technologies and emerging innovations.
• Knowledge of the cybersecurity threat lifecycle and use of TTPs.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create technical reports based on analytical findings.

Responsibilities

• Support documentation and artifacts, implementing cybersecurity requirements as per DoDI 8510 and AR 25-2 based on system categorization under RMF.
• Operate workstations, collect, analyze, and synthesize data.
• Execute incident responses, prepare incident reports, and coordinate with IA personnel.
• Validate IA Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) via vulnerability scanning.
• Maintain and secure current and future system baselines.
• Ensure security configuration baselines are documented for all components.
• Perform continuous monitoring and configuration compliance testing.
• Analyze and correlate audit logs using SIEM tools.
• Assess security requirements, perform testing, prepare RMF documentation, and present security architecture.
• Monitor external communications for unauthorized activity, including software and mobile code.
• Notify IA personnel immediately upon detection of unauthorized network services.
• Configure and enable security features.
• Review, analyze, and store audit records from multiple system components using SIEM.
• Conduct audits and manage account security.
• Ensure weekly backups of audit logs.
• Support annual FISMA assessments in line with A&A and ATO requirements.

Desired Skills

• Experience with DoD/U.S. Army/Federal Government cybersecurity environments.
• Knowledge of tools such as ACAS, Splunk, Endpoint Security Solutions, Cisco ASA Firewalls, STIGs, SCC/SCAP, Windows, Linux (RHEL).
• Relevant IT/Cybersecurity experience.

Desired Certifications

Security+ or CYSA+.

Education Requirements

Associates, Applied Associates, or Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity or IT Security; advanced degrees preferred.

Experience Requirements

Associates degree + 2 years relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with no experience required.

Clearance

Secret clearance required.
