Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to speak, read, and write English. Good communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and physical capability to lift and carry children and objects up to 45 lbs independently (or with assistance for heavier items) are required. The position may require driving a vehicle, including government vehicles transporting children, and obtaining a government driver's license. Prior experience working with children, youth, or teens is required.

Candidates should have the skill to interpret and implement developmentally appropriate curricula for children and teens. Acceptable qualifications include:

• Completion of DoD Standardized Module training and 24 months experience at the CY-II (GSE-04) level, OR
• A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Military School-Age (MSA) credential, along with 1 year at the CY Program Assistant/base level 4, OR
• A minimum of a 2-year degree in Youth Development, Child Development, or related fields such as recreation, education, psychology, social work, or human development.

All applicants must complete required training for Program Assistant levels, pass background checks, and physical exams, provide immunization evidence, and maintain current certifications in food handling, CPR, and First Aid. The position is subject to drug testing and other employment policies.
