****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees arenot eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • **Oversee the program curriculum, scheduling of courses and faculty, and serve as the liaison between students, faculty and EEC staff to ensure teaching quality and course content are consistent with the goals of the program.
  • **Coordinate the process of hiring outside instructors (i.e., individuals who are not members of the regular, full-time faculty).
  • **Work with the Dean's Office and the chair/director in discussion and reviewing instructor/lecturer candidates, interviewing the candidates, participating in the hiring process, and providing information that is helpful in the faculty recruitment process.
  • **Work with department chairs on faculty selection for teaching assignments in the program in compliance with AACSB standards.
  • **Assure timely submission of course syllabi from instructors in the program before semester begins, textbook selection, handouts, grades, etc.
  • Provide mechanisms where students can provide programmatic feedback, such as assisting in a Kaizen session at least once per cohort cycle.
  • Provide advice on admissions and retention issues to relevant parties.
  • Participate in alumni panel discussions.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage lecturers and professors of graduate level courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage executive level graduate students.

  • Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous experience as the Faculty Director of an Executive MBA program.
