Job Summary

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide services for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries to HPU student athletes. They will assist the Head Athletic Trainer with daily operations, emergency procedures, first aid, care documentation, and communication with coaches and physicians. The role includes providing coverage for athletic events, supervising the training room, and supporting practice, game, and travel needs.

As the Strength & Conditioning Coach, responsibilities include providing weight room orientation, supervision, safety monitoring, training coaching staff, and managing the weight room facilities.

Compensation

$41,000 - $49,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is an on-site, full-time, exempt staff position.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field
  • Certified by NATABOC
  • CPR/AED certification
  • CSCS certification or ability to certify within 6 months
  • 1-year collegiate athletic training or related experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years' experience as a certified athletic trainer in intercollegiate sports
  • First Aid certification
  • Experience as a strength & conditioning coach

Other Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship provided)
  • Availability to work during holidays and support department needs
  • Eligible for Hawaii State Licensure
  • Background checks and compliance with policies required
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license; ability to drive HPU vehicles
  • Willingness to work extended hours and shifts
  • Strong time and stress management skills; reliable attendance; ability to foster positive working relationships

Key Responsibilities

Provide team practice and game day coverage, assist with injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, supervise weight room activities, and support coaching staff and athletes in maintaining safety and performance.
