About You

This person will be team-oriented, adaptable, dynamic, and embody the common goal of operating a growing fleet of commercial vessels which support the Department of Defense and other projects.

About the Position

Chief Engineers are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing engineering machinery and reporting directly to the Captain and Port Engineer. They assist with 3rd party clients as needed operating deck machinery critical to the project. The Chief Engineer will promote good working relationships with other departments, third-party personnel and Customer representatives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead engineering department on general maintenance as well as projects for 3rd part clients.
• Assisting in ship's technical maintenance and the safe, efficient, economical operation of all machinery.
• Apply appropriate permits to work and isolation systems as required.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing faulty mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Following all the engine room procedures.
• Making regular rounds in the engine room during their watch while vessel is underway or when deemed necessary
• Completion of Engine Room Logs
• Adhere to policies and procedures in the Safety Management System (SMS). Report unsafe situations, conditions, or opportunities for improvement
• Performs necessary routine maintenance, repairs, and handles ship's technical jobs.
• Monitoring and analyzing cooling water/sewage treatment plant/potable water.
• Maintain the general condition/maintenance of machinery, steering gear, air conditioning, etc.
• Performing emergency duties in accordance with the vessel's Muster List/Station Bill.
• Monitor and control the use and distribution of consumables/materials; generate requisitions as required
• Ensuring that daily activities within the engineering department are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the impact of the engineering department operations on the environment are within acceptable limits.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid U.S. Passport
• Valid USCG Medical Certificate
• Valid TWIC Card
• Ability to pass a physical exam

Preferred Qualifications

• Dynamic Positioning Experience
• DP Maintenance course completion
• DP teaching experience
• Experience on contracted project vessels

Salary: $950-1100 (DOE) / day full time
