AECOM is currently pursuing an experienced Construction Resident Engineer to support various projects located on the island of Maui. The Construction Resident Engineer will support its Construction Management Teams working on various County of Maui highway and bridge projects. This is a part-time position.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Administration of the construction contract.
  • Conducting pre-construction conference and weekly progress meetings
  • Coordinating field surveys as needed for baseline, right-of- way, centerline, grade tolerance checks, design or field changes
  • Coordinating between different agencies and the Contractor concerning submittals necessary as required in the approved permits.
  • Processing submittals and requests for information for Designer of Record or Owner approval.
  • Conducting field inspections, preparing documentation and measurements.
  • Conducting labor compliance interviews, audits and complying with other established procedures.
  • Checking and processing weekly payrolls
  • Preparing and processing change orders as required to comply with field conditions.
  • Preparing and processing monthly payment requests.
  • Preparing accurate diaries, pay item books and ledgers.
  • Conducting final inspections and preparing and processing acceptance documents.
  • Monitoring sampling and “job control” testing of all materials.
  • Documenting and preparing “As-Built” construction drawings.
  • Maintain electronic copies in pdf format of all construction documents as outlined in SDOT Highways Procedure Manual, Volume No. 10.
  • Coordinating and monitoring all utility work with various agencies including the Contractor to enhance the completion of the project.
  • Prepare and process construction contract “closing-out” documents

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office software
  • Experience in resident engineering, construction management, project management, engineering and related fields
  • Driving will be required for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Hawaii DOT Highways construction management procedures.
  • Experience in the evaluation and validation of contractors change order requests against contract documents, negotiating change orders costs and schedule impacts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities
  • Excellent written communications and presentation abilities
