Position Description

Goodfellow Bros. (GBI) is a large heavy-civil contractor with operations throughout the West Coast & Hawaii. Our company is a fourth-generation, family-owned business celebrating over 100 years in the industry! GBI is seeking to add a Claims Manager to our team in Hawaii. The candidate should be near one of our GBI offices in Oahu, Maui, Kauai, or the Big Island.

The Claims Manager oversees all aspects of the claims process within the heavy civil construction industry, including handling General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, Equipment Damage, and other third-party claims. The ideal candidate will have extensive claims management experience, especially within construction, and will coordinate closely with Regional Safety Professionals and Operations Management to ensure effective risk management and claims mitigation.

Essential Functions

  • Claims Management: Oversee daily claims management, ensure timely reporting, lead investigations, evaluate data for trends and proactive measures.
  • Coordination with Safety and Operations: Collaborate with Safety Professionals and Operations Management, participate in safety audits and incident reviews.
  • Risk Mitigation: Develop strategies with project managers and legal counsel, review contracts and insurance policies.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports on claims trends and costs, monitor claims budget, work with insurers and third-party administrators.
  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure claims are handled in compliance with laws and regulations, stay updated on legislative changes.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Liaise with legal, investigative, and medical vendors, maintain relationships with insurance carriers and brokers.
  • Contracts: Support the Contracts Department with claims information for prequalification questionnaires.

Pay Range

$130,000 - $163,000/year

Position Qualifications

  • Work authorization in the US without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Admin, or related.
  • 3-5 years claims management experience, preferably in heavy civil construction.
  • Knowledge of construction industry claims, practices, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with claims management software and MS Office.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications like ARM or CPCU.
  • Experience with litigation management and construction contracts.
