Overview:
We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected engineering consultancy that is expanding its presence in Hawaii. They are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design efforts across a wide range of building projects. This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys both technical excellence and leadership responsibilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as the mechanical engineering lead on building projects in commercial, healthcare, educational, and civic sectors.
  • Provide oversight of mechanical system design, documentation, and calculations from concept through construction.
  • Guide and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers, fostering both technical development and professional growth.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design quality and project timelines are met.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, business development, and operational improvement.
  • Conduct site visits and provide construction-phase support as needed.
  • Participate in client meetings and present technical solutions in a clear, professional manner.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline); advanced degrees a plus.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC systems design and performance in complex facilities.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in building systems design, with increasing leadership responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and sustainable design practices.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license ; LEED certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Revit, energy modeling tools (e.g., Trane Trace 700 or EnergyPlus), and industry-standard software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
  • Must be based in Hawaii at the time of application.
