Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our healthcare team in Honolulu, HI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by radiation oncologists, ensuring safety, accuracy, and compassion in care. The role requires technical proficiency, strong patient communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Department Overview
The Radiation Oncology department is an accredited facility equipped with advanced technologies, including:
Three linear accelerators (including tomotherapy)
CT simulator
High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy unit
Stereotactic Radiosurgery
Total Body Irradiation (TBI)
The department serves a wide range of oncology patients, including both ambulatory and hospitalized individuals. Commonly treated cancers include breast, lung, and prostate. The team provides comprehensive care that may include sedation/analgesia as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments.
Accurately position patients and operate treatment machines.
Monitor patients' responses and report changes to medical staff.
Maintain accurate treatment records and ensure quality assurance procedures.
Adhere to safety protocols to limit radiation exposure.
Provide compassionate care and clear communication to patients and families.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certification & Licensure:
Current Hawaii State license as a Radiation Therapist (required).
CPR certification at the Healthcare Professional level (required).
Experience:
Prior experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands
Standing, walking, hearing, speaking, and seeing.
Lifting up to 25 lbs; pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.
Repetitive hand/arm movements, reaching above shoulder level.
Frequent stooping, bending, and gripping of objects for extended periods.
Working Conditions
Fast-paced clinical setting.
Potential exposure to radiation, body fluids, communicable diseases, and mechanical/electrical equipment.
Must follow all safety and infection control guidelines.
