Regular, Part-Time to Full-Time (75-100% FTE), Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the College of Social Sciences, Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), Hawaii Coral Reef Initiative (HCRI) in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Primary work location will be at the Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) office on Kaua'i, O'ahu, Maui, Moloka'i, or Hawai'i Island.

- MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:** $3,250 - $3,375/Mon. (@75% FTE) to $4,333.33 - $4,500/Mon. (@100% FTE)
Duties
Assists the SSRI Database Associate to confirm database requirements by studying user needs and conferring with leads from various programs. In consultation with the SSRI Database Associate, analyzes databases and monitors design specifications for possible integration between certain projects. Maintains various database environments. Identifies and resolves all problems and ensures appropriate tracking of issues. Analyzes database statistics and security; recommends changes if required. Recommends improvements to database structure, data entry portal, analytical queries, and summary reports. Provides general oversight of data collection for alien species control activities, restoration efforts, and monitoring. Integrates data from and shares data with partners. Provides technical support on software and equipment as needed. Participates in field activities to observe how data is collected, ensure the data is accurate and optimal, and to suggest improvements. Identifies and analyzes data collection tools employed. Examines current data usage, and in consultation with DOFAW, makes recommendations. Develops methodologies and technologies to help DOFAW programs better collect and integrate their spatial and statistical databases statewide. Researches and evaluates new data gathering equipment and technology to meet geographic information system (GIS)/database objectives and improve data management efficiency. Develops efficient data archiving methods for field data. Writes standard operating procedures (SOPs) and similar documents for data management activities. Assists with training of DOFAW staff and partners on electronic database entry, security, and use, and assists with resolving queries. Collaborates with leads from various programs soliciting feedback and input from DOFAW staff throughout the project. Compiles, writes, and prepares reports for various databases. Maintains user reference by writing and rewriting database descriptions. Maintains data dictionary by revising and entering definitions. Creates products and content to inform the public about the management of Kauai's native ecosystems and encourage engagement in conservation efforts. Ability to work around and fly in approved helicopters.
Primary Qualifications
**EDUCATION**
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
**EXPERIENCE**
Two to four (2-4) years of experience working with spatial data. Includes experience creating in Esri software, particularly, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Survey123, and A cGIS Online (AGOL). Work experience in a relevant field can be considered work experience.
**KNOWLEDGE**
Familiarity with field work techniques, including data collection and data entry. Knowledge of ArcGIS. Knowledge of the principles of ecology and wildlife biology. F
amiliarity with natural resource management and conservation tools and methods. Working knowledge of rules and policies pertinent to personnel safety and operational matters. Familiarity with applicable Federal/State laws, policies and procedures.
