From K – 12, technology is an integral part of learning. At Punahou School, the Information Technology (IT) department strives to create an environment where access to and support for digital information, tools, devices, and rich learning opportunities are fully integrated throughout the K – grade 12 environment.
The Senior Project Manager manages multiple complex projects simultaneously, incorporating cross-functional personnel into cohesive project teams. The ideal candidate will use their professional project management practices to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close projects. They will manage project's constraints, including scope, budget, and schedule while assessing and managing project risks. They will use leadership and communication skills to lead teams effectively and maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders. They will also ensure legal, internal audit, financial, regulatory, and safety requirements are met. The Senior Project Manager will be required to assess the existing project management environment and formulate plans and recommendations to improve governance, standardization of project templates and tools, formation of cross-functional teams, and project reporting and dashboards. As necessary, they will champion the adoption of new methods and techniques - ever-enhancing Punahou School's project delivery capabilities. Job duties include, but are no limited to:
- Governance: Participates, and possibly leads, in the project management governance process working both with stakeholders and cross-functional governance team members. The product of the governance process sets forth campus-wide planning strategies and project priorities, so enterprise scale projects, resources, and expectations are aligned with Punahou's strategic goals.
- Plans Projects: Develops project approach strategies and selects project methodology options appropriate to the level of complexity and risk associated with a project. Leverages professional methodology options to produce project charters and other planning documents including scope statements, work breakdown structures and activity schedules with cost estimates, risk management and project quality approaches. Establishes project resource plans, communication and stakeholder management plans while also setting out the strategies, risk mitigations and other tactics to meet the integrated plans. Negotiates project scope, schedule and cost with sponsor and obtains approvals.
- Manages project execution: Leads large cross-functional teams to meet project goals. Achieves early-identification of potential problem areas and solves problems before they expand. Accomplishes project tasks through the efforts of internal and external team members, including consultants or contractors. Recommends and assists in selection of cross-functional or functional project teams. Ensures that team members have all the resources, information and direction necessary to successfully perform their jobs. Prepares and presents project progress, cost and analysis reports as required. Provides performance feedback to team leads and other team members as appropriate. Manages the changes to project scope, schedule and cost through a change management process that includes formal approval by project sponsors or other boards when appropriate. Closes projects through formal closure processes that include appropriate sign offs.
- Participates in work unit and departmental process improvement efforts to further develop project management resource materials, procedures, tools and contribute to project management knowledge base. Participates in unit work strategy assessments and helps develop methods for allocation of project duties among peer project managers.
- Participates in unit and departmental administrative duties including preparing work requests, evaluating company or department work requests and making recommendations. Participates in initial assignment of work by collaborating with resource manager, IT Business Solution Consultants, and directors. May assist in the preparation of company level budgets.
- Remain available for both scheduled and unscheduled work. Said work is occasionally required outside normal business hours and on weekends
- Work Year: 12 month
- Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.After work hours, weekends, holidays for special events as needed.
- Minimum of Salary Range*: $120,000 - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (management information systems, business, computer science or project management) or an equivalent of work experience in a complex business environment.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Program Management Professional (PgMP) and/or Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) certifications preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience leading interdepartmental technology-related projects, preferably within an Information Technology department.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects), risk mitigation, scope management, and reporting.
- Proficiency in project management software and collaboration tools.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups, including contractors and consultants.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and follow up systematically.
- Experience working in an educational institution is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to and understand the policies and procedures of an academic environment, particularly the role of IT within a school ecosystem.
