Under the direction of the Income Property Lending – Fast Track (IPLD) Manager, the Commercial Real Estate Credit Underwriter is a partner to the Primary Relationship Officer (PRO), responsible for the evaluation of financial and other risks associated with business clients to enable a credit decision to be made.

Under the direction of the Income Property Lending – Fast Track (IPLD) Manager, the Commercial Real Estate Credit Underwriter is a partner to the Primary Relationship Officer (PRO), responsible for the evaluation of financial and other risks associated with business clients to enable a credit decision to be made.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares CAM package and written summaries with guidance for simple credit transactions, including forward looking acceptability of risks for Credit Write-up; Quarterly Asset Quality Report, to include forecast; and Annual term loan reviews for stand-alone term loans or multi-year facilities. Communicates with client and PRO to obtain information. Is responsible for the accuracy of the content of these documents. Reviews and validates construction draws. Structures, determines credit covenants, and /or fine-tunes credit facilities proposed by PRO, and ensures that they are in conformity with bank policy.
  • Assists with the administration and organization of the Fast Track initiative, including work log management, mortgage recording monitoring, email and regular mail tombstone marketing, planning and setting up Smart Money Seminars, etc.
  • Monitors client financial condition through review of periodic financial statements, covenant compliance, and personal investigation of conditions in the industry, marketplace, competition and industry. Ensures accuracy of risk ratings. Analyzes cash flow projections and formulates alternative risk scenarios; performs other due diligence as necessary. Communicates with client and PRO to complete described job functions.
  • Facilitates documentation process in conjunction with CRELD Documentation Specialist with Loan Operations Department (LOD) or external legal counsel. Orders documents from LOD or external legal counsel for timely delivery to client. Assists PRO in completing review of documents to ensure accuracy as approved, prior to PRO obtaining the client's signature(s).
  • Provides input to the monitoring and validation of the assigned client risk rating.
  • Performs deal screens with Manager and PRO's.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably with major in business or related area, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of commercial credit skills and experience or equivalent work experience, preferably having completed “Commercial Credit” training. In addition the candidate should possess Commercial lending experience as a Primary Relationship Officer (at a Level II+) or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Must have the ability to express complex ideas in concise and simple terms. Able to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills, with excellent attention to detail. Must be able to manage multiple assignments with changing deadlines in a high pressure environment. Able to build strong working relationships with a collaborative approach, but must also be a self-starter with the ability to work independently. Possesses good interpersonal skills and client servicing skills to meet Bank standards. Must always follow up and follow through. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned. Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license and commute in a timely manner as required. Able to travel by air as necessary.
