This position involves participating in on-the-job and formal training to learn the theories, techniques, and methods used in research and statistical analysis.

Education Requirement:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including three (3) semester hours in statistics and fifteen (15) additional semester hours in an appropriate field such as the physical or biological sciences, agriculture, medicine, education, engineering, social sciences (demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, sociology, political science, public administration, business administration, psychology), etc.

Experience:

Progressively responsible administrative, professional, or analytical work experience that includes:

  1. Sampling
  2. Collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data
  3. Applying statistical methods to data collection or processing or establishing and operating data collection systems
  4. Applying known statistical techniques such as measures of central tendency, dispersion, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance

Experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Skills:

The education and experience must demonstrate the ability to write clear reports, interpret complex material, and solve problems systematically.

Non-qualifying work includes:

  • Statistical clerical work
  • Statistical drafting
  • Work involving calculation of totals, averages, percentages, or other arithmetic sums
  • Preparation of simple tables or charts
  • Verification of data through simple comparison or proofreading
